Stefon Janey, 31, of Upper Marlboro, was arrested Wednesday, March 13 after a police chase in Prince George’s County involving detectives, patrol officers and the Aviation Section, the PGPD said.
Janey was indicted this week in connection with eight robberies in the county earlier this year, including at convenience stores in the 8600 block of Baltimore Avenue and the 8200 block of Martin Luther King Junior Highway.
In several cases, the suspect used tools known as the “jaws of life” to bust open the stores’ ATMs and successfully stole tens of thousands of dollars, police said.
Janey has been indicted on 44 separate offenses including robbery, malicious destruction of property and burglary. Additional charges against Janey are likely, police said. He is currently in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
The case remains under investigation. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of additional suspects.
